William L. Solomon, Jr., 79, of Buffalo Twp., PA, passed away at 3:45 am, Thursday, November 3rd, peacefully, at St. Margaret Hospital.

William was born in Sarver, PA on August 8, 1932, a son of the late Ellen (Hauck) and William L. Solomon, Sr. Bill graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1950. He went to work for PPG Industries for a few years. He joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. After the war, he went back to work and PPG for a short time. Bill was hired by Oberg Mfg. Co where he received the Man of year Certificate of Merit in 1984 for his engineering efforts. He worked for Oberg Mfg Co. for 39 years and retired in 1995.

Bill was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sarver, PA 16055. He was a life member of the VFW Post 894 in Natrona Heights. He was a member of the Lower Burrell Senior Bowling League. Bill had also coach for the Freeport Area Little League for many years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and had been on many cruises and tours abroad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,golfing, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie (Formento) Solomon Their 2 sons, James W. (Mary) Solomon, of Irwin and Randall L. (Melanie) Solomon, of Mamaroneck, NY. 3 grandchildren; Patrick, Ryan and Anna Solomon. 2 brothers; Robert (Shirley) Solomon, of Advance, NC. and Richard (Emma) Solomon, of New Symrna Beach, FL. Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Borland and his brother, Ronald Solomon

Family and friends are being received on Sat. Nov. 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 12 - 1:30 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Sarver Rd. in Sarver, PA, at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 6th, with Rev. Emery Barnett officiating.

Burial will be held at Deer Creek Cemetery Cheswick, PA.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to;
St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund 409 Sarver Rd. Sarver, PA 16055.
