Nicholas is one of the sweetest young men I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. One of my all-time favorite CCD students—I can vividly remember his wonderful smile and laugh in my 4th grade class at St. Joe’s and how he connected to the senior citizens on our mission trip to WV. Such a wonderful young person. We are Blessed to have had his life touch ours and I will cherish my very fond memories of him.

Nick was always so great to be around. My senior year of highschool in 2017, I got put in a class with all freshman, and I had been friends with his older brother Nathan for years. Me and Nick became friends in that gym class and spent so much time at seven springs later that year. My only regret is being away from home at college and never getting to see him grow up these past few years. Such an amazing and lively kid. I'll miss you so much. My heart goes out to the mattivi family and all those who were graced by Nick's contagious energy and happiness.

Mattivi family,

I gradually came to know Nick through the envirothon team, and I greatly appreciated his kindness and positive attitude. I regret that I never got to know him more closely than I did, but I can definitely say that he had a positive impact on the community of Freeport during this time. I am very sorry for your loss, and I will continue to pray for all of you.
