Nora L. Kiem, 67, of Cheswick, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 9, 2013, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. Nora was born July 8, 1945, in Freeport, the daughter of the late Dale C. and Hazel M. (Shields) VanDyke. She was the widow of Robert H. Kiem, who passed away in 1975. Nora had worked for a number of years at Alle-Kiski Medical Center as a nurse's aide. She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport and she enjoyed bowling, reading and watching movies.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert V. (Kelly) Kiem, of Springfield, Va, and Shawn (Crystal) Price, of Tarentum; her daughter Melody Sue Kiem, of South Buffalo Twp.; her five grandchildren, Erin, Sydney and Adam Kiem and Kaleb and Kooper Price; her three sisters, Karen (William) Waldenville, if South Buffalo Twp., Diane (William) Ratcliff, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nancy (Thomas) Craig, of South Buffalo Twp.; her four brothers, Herbert (Vicki) VanDyke, of Wichita, Kan., James (Ginger) VanDyke, of Omro, Wis., David (Beverly) VanDyke, of Distant, and Larry (Sharon) VanDyke, of Aspinwall. She is preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Wiester, and her brother Thomas VanDyke.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday March 13, 2013, in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High St., Freeport. Public visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 5th St., Freeport. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. James HIggins officiating. Burial will be held in Union Cemetery, South Buffalo Twp.
