Andrew P. Staricek, 79, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away at 1:50 p.m., Sunday, January 6th, while in the company of family members, at UPMC St. Margaret, in Pittsburgh. Andrew was born in Glassmere, PA on June 29, 1933. He was the son of the late Rose (Kovolik) and Steve J. Staricek.

He worked for many years as a security guard at Westinghouse in Cheswick retiring in 1994. Andy had also worked at PPG in Creighton, AP Green in Tarentum, Air Products in Creighton and had been a police officer for the East Deer Police. He was a member of New Life Christian Ministries in Saxonburg. Andy was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed bicycling, camping, hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed fossil hunting, metal detecting and shark tooth collecting.

Andy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sylvia Joann (Polimadei) Staricek. Their 3 daughters, Theresa (David) Spang, of Oil City, PA., Donna (Stanley) Romanowski, of South Buffalo Twp. and Janet Ebel, of Venice, FL. Andy is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and his sister, Anna (Adam) Hrebicek, of North Buffalo Twp. He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Sirota.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday January 8th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. Funeral Services will be held at in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9th, with Pastor Chris Marshall, Lead Pastor officiating. Burial will be held in the Freeport Cemetery.

He was the most positive person always smiling no matter what. I will remember his caring ways and his strong faith.

I will expecially remember how excited he was to give a little stuffed animal to one of the relihan girls. Just seeing her face he was so thrilled. I loved Andy and hope to see him again, God be willing.
