William A. "Bill" Coward, 74, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away at 3:52 am on Sunday, April 1st, peacefully, at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.

Bill was born in the Laneville section of Freeport, PA on January 18, 1938. He was the son of the late Rhoda A. (McQueen) and Joseph L. Coward, Jr.

Bill was a 1955 graduate of Freeport High School. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed in the Pacific for 3 years. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Bill worked for a number of years at Alcoa in New Kensington. He then worked as a plant manager for ABB Inc. in Greensburg for over 25 years until his retirement in 2000.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved the game of golf.

He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Patricia (Schwietering) Coward; loving father of his two sons and their spouses, Jeff (Teri) Coward of Zelienople, PA and Mark (Pam) Coward of Mt. Pleasant, PA; proud grandfather of Connor Coward of Zelienople, PA and caring brother of Patricia Mitchell, of Freeport. Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Coward, who passed in 1976.

Family and friends are being received on Tuesday, April 3rd from 3-5 and 7-9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA 16229.

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 4th, with Lay Pastor Lloyd Riggle of Allegheny Presbyterian Church officiating. A private burial will be held in the Freeport Cemetery.
