Clyde R. Friend, 85, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away at 5:00 am, Monday, November 7th, peacefully, at Sunnyview Home in Butler.

Clyde was born in Titusville, PA on June 24, 1926 and grew up in Clairton, PA. He was the son of the late Iris (Mook) and Clyde L. Friend.

He served in the US Navy during WW II. After the war he worked for 25 years as a Nurse's Aide at the VA Hospital in Butler, PA., retiring in 1971. He was a member of Reformed United Presbyterian Church North Buffalo Twp. Clyde was a member of NARFE, the Mystic 52 Magician's Club in Pittsburgh, and the Blind and Veterans Association. Clyde volunteered for many years with the Boy Scouts

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle (Keener) Friend. His five children: Raymond (Peggy) Friend, of Chicora, Saundra (Bob) Isovitsch, of Butler, Ronald (Michelle) Friend, of Winter Springs, FL, Cynthia Crytzer, of Mercer and Rodney (Philippa) Friend, of Buffalo Twp. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and his sister, Elizabeth Friend - Kifer, of Irwin.

He was preceded in death by his infant son Roger Friend.

Family and friends are being received on Wednesday Nov. 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 10th, with the Rev. Mark Davis of the Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be held at Slate Lick Cemetery Kittanning, PA.
