Russell K. Stewart, Sr. 77, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away Sunday, May 15th, while in the company of family members, at his home

Russell was born in Homestead, PA on July 9, 1933, a son of the late Viola (Hess) and Kennedy Stewart. He served in the US Army in the Korean War. After his service to his country he went to work as a manager at AT&T in Pittsburgh. He retired in 1985 after 35 years of service.

Mr. Stewart was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church Freeport and a member of the Harrison Hills VFW. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending to his garden. Russell also enjoyed traveling with his wife and found Hawaii to be their favorite destination.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernadette E. (Zapf) Stewart. His 3 daughters; Judith (Antonio) Policicchio, of South Buffalo Twp., Pamela Stewart of Aspinwall, Cynthia (Peter) Tulk, of South Buffalo Twp. and his son Russell K. (Leshia) Stewart, Jr., of Hemet, CA. A brother Donald (Joan) Stewart, of Moraine, PA. and 2 sisters LaVerne McQuarters, of South Hills and Linda Lipsak, of Cranberry. 17 grand and 13 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his 2 daughters, Bernadette Stewart as an infant and Carol Stewart in 1995.

Family and friends are being received on Tuesday May 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport A Parish Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am to be followed by Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, Freeport, PA, at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 18th, with Father Raphael Glinkowski, officiating.

Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery Freeport, PA.


The family has requested that no flowers should be sent.
