Mr. Elvin G. Stivenson, 78, of Buffalo Twp., passed away at 7:25 AM, Friday, September 11th, 2009 peacefully at Fair Winds Manor, Winfield Twp., PA.

Elvin was born in Natrona Heights, PA on September 23, 1930, the son of the late Arthur George and Leona (Smith) Stivenson, Sr.

He was a member of Lighthouse Fellowship Center Sarver, PA. Elvin worked as a conductor and a brakeman for the railroad at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 40 years. He retired in 1988.

Elvin competed for many years in the modified, coupe and late model dirt track divisions at Lernerville Speedway and other tracks in the area. He enjoyed working on hot rods and classic cars. He sang at a number of churches in the area and his greatest love was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Jane (Knox) Stivenson. His two sons and their wives
Randall G. and Janet Stivenson of Buffalo Twp and Roger C. and Valerie Stivenson of Freeport;
A brother Darwin (Marlene) Stivenson of Buffalo Twp and his sister Mabel Furer of Buffalo Twp.
7 grandsons; Ben (Emily) Rose, Randy (Stephanie) Stivenson, Matthew Stivenson, Brandon Stivenson and Brian Stivenson. Dylan and Eric Stivenson. Great grandchildren; Hannah, Darius, Madison, Page, Kaydence Stivenson. Courtney and Ethan Stivenson and Cassie and Morgan Rose.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra L. Rose who passed in 1995. 2 brothers; Arthur George Jr. and Wilbert "Pete" Stivenson and his sister Ellen Stivenson who passed away in infancy.

Family and friends are being received on Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport

Visitation will be held at Lighthouse Fellowship Center on Lucas Lane in Sarver, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am on Monday, September 14th, with Rev. Richard Shick officiating. Burial will be held in Sarverville Cemetery Sarver, PA.
