Mr. Loy A. Stephens, Jr., 87, of Freeport, passed away at 4:00 PM, Monday, February 9th, 2009 peacefully at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights PA.

Loy was born in Freeport, PA on October 13, 1921, the son of the late Loy A. and Jane E. (Dinwiddie) Stephens, Sr.

He served in the US Army in WW II in the Pacific Theater. After the war he went to work as an engineer for Conrail Railroad for 45 years retiring in 1984.

Loy was a member of the American Legion and the Freeport VFW. He volunteered at the Freeport Senior Center.

He was the widower of Phyllis J. (Cunningham) Stephens who passed in 1986

Loy is survived by his two daughters; Mary Beth Nedley of Beauford, SC, and Sue Ann (David) Parker of Beaumont, TX. A son, John G. Stephens of Havelock, NC. Loy is also survived by
two sisters, Mildred Jane Tweed of Indiana, PA; , Margaret L. Meshanko of Clymer, PA. Two brothers, Edward D. (Evelyn) Stephens of Buffalo Twp.; , Ronald L. (Alexandria) Stephens of Natrona Heights. His 7 grandchildren; Dennis, Stephen and Wesley Nedley. Jacob and Shannon Stephens, Joshua and Jessica Stanley and 4 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Faith in 2005

Family and friends are being received on Thursday Feb 12 from 6-8 p.m.. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA

Services are private at the convenience of family. Burial will be held in Greenwood Memorial Park Lower Burrell, PA.
