Mr. Donald J. Flick, 86, of Winfield Twp., passed away at 12:35 p.m., Saturday, July 12th, 2008 peacefully at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison Twp. Mr. Flick is formerly of Buffalo Twp. Donald was born in New Kensington, on September 26, 1921, the son of the late Stephen J. and Sarah R. (O'Donnell) Flick.He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church Brackenridge. He served in the US Army during WW II as a private 1st class in the 109th Field Artillery Service Battery, 28th Division at Normandy and Rhineland. After his service to his country he went back to work for Alcoa Industries New Kensington as a machinist for the next 39 years retiring in 1978. After his retirement he went to work for Devereaux Chevrolet in Freeport, as a dealer trade driver for 15 years.Don was a life member of the Saxonburg VFW. A member of the Armstrong Lodge #239, New Castle Consistery and the Pittsburgh Shrine. He was a past officer for the Central Valley Credit Union in Arnold. He enjoyed golfing, vegetable gardening, working outside at his home, traveling, watching the Steelers play and being with his family. Mr. Flick is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Mildred G. (Hendricks) Flick. His 3 daughters; Carol (Anthony) Olszewski of Bath, NY., Loretta (William) Thompson of South Buffalo, Twp. and Mindy (Bill) Shearer of South Buffalo Twp. 2 sons; David Flick of Butler, PA., Randy (Sue) Flick of Buffalo Twp. A sister, Martha Bright of Cannonsburg, PA. and a brother, Robert E. (Joanne) Flick of Upper Darby, PA. Mr. Flick is also survived by his 6 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Robert S. Flick. 2 sisters Eleanor McNutt and Barbara Hoekema. Family and friends are being received on Monday July 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. Freeport, PA. A Masonic service will held on Monday evening 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge, PA, at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 15th, with Pastor Pamela J. Bonnett officiating. Full Military honors will be given at the church following the funeral service.Burial will be held at the Sarverville Cemetery Sarver, PA.
