William E. Schott, 92, of New Kensington, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 7th, peacefully, at Platinum Ridge in Brackenridge. Bill was born in the Mt Vernon section of New Kensington on July 30, 1923. He was the a son of the late Milda (Weigel) and Henry Schott. Bill was the widower of Virginia A. (George) Schott who passed in 1991. Bill served as a Private First Class in the US Army during WWII where he was was a member of the 377 Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He took part in both the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Bill received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars for his service to his country. After the war Bill returned home to the Valley and took a job at Allegheny Ludlum Steel in Brackenrdige. He worked as a millwright for 42 years, retiring in 1985. Bill was a simple man who enjoyed family, boating on the Allegheny river and gardening. He is survived by his 2 sons, Wilbert E. and William G. Schott, both of New Kensington. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Ronald "Bud" & Harold "Buck" Schott, and sister Elvira Schott. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday February 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral services will be private at the request of the family and he will be buried with his with in Evergreen Cemetery in Leechburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley 533 Linden Ave New Kensington, PA 15068.
