Kayla Ann Swartz, 23, of Freeport, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015. God received a new angel when Kayla passed away in her sleep at her home. Kayla was born Feb. 23, 1992. She was the daughter of Margie (Wolfarth) and James E. Swartz Jr., with whom she lived. Kayla was a 2010 graduate of Freeport Area High School. During her school years, Kayla was involved in dance, chorus and gymnastics. She also graduated from the Newport Business School in 2012. She enjoyed drawing, doing Mehndi Design art and craft work. She volunteered with the Freeport Library, Restore Freeport Park and the Freeport International Baseball Invitational. Kayla loved her three nieces very much and never missed any of their activities. She was a very thoughtful person who always worried about everyone but herself. She was a member of Freeport United Methodist Church, Freeport, PA 16229. In addition to her parents she is survived by her aunt, Vicki and uncle, Ed Selker, of Buffalo Township; her grandfather, Harvey Meckley, of Sarver; and her grandmother, Georgeanne Swartz, of Chicora. She is also survived by her three loving nieces, Jenna, Sydney and Reese Selker; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her birth mother, Jennifer Sue Meckley, who passed in 1992; grandparents, Howard and Grace Wolfarth, Paul and Zelda Meckley, James E. Swartz Sr., and her uncle, Frederick A. Swartz.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, and 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, in the Freeport United Methodist Church in Freeport, with the Rev. James G. Young officiating. A private family burial will be held in McVille Union Cemetery in South Buffalo Township.
