Harold E. "Bud" Smith, 88, of Buffalo Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 while in the company of family members at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot. Bud was born in Natrona Heights on May 19, 1927. He was the son of the late Ida (Brashear) and William Smith. Bud worked in the engineering department and later in purchasing for PPG Industries in Harmarville. He had worked for PPG for 45 years retiring in 1992. He was a long time member of Freeport United Methodist Church. Bud was a "Car Guy" and enjoyed the automotive industry. He enjoyed learning and talking about the new models that came out each year. He also enjoyed selling cars as he worked for many years at Devereaux Chevrolet in Freeport. Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eloise M. (Best) Smith. Their 4 children; Debra Jardine, of Winfield Twp., Kimberly (Dennis) Postupack of Adams Twp, Lisa (Mike) Green, of South Buffalo Twp. and David Smith, of Natrona Heights. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ryan (Jacki) Fuhrman, Lauren Fuhrman, Christopher Jardine and his great granddaughter, Penny Fuhrman. His daughter in law, Violet K. Smith of Buffalo Twp. Brother James Smith, of South Buffalo Twp. and sister, Twila Settlemyer, of Cabot. He is preceded in death by his son, Alan D. Smith who passed in 2010. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 17 from 1-3 & 6-8 pm in Redmond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St., Freeport, PA 16229. Funeral service will be held in the Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St. in Freeport at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 18, with Rev. James G. Young officiating. Burial will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Freeport United Methodist Church 211 4th St. Freeport, PA 16229 or Freeport Area Library Association 428 Market Street. Freeport, PA 16229

I will always remember the great conversations we used to have with Bud back in the 60's and 70's. When Dave and Alan and I came up from the basement that is. I will miss him.
