Elva J. (Ugoletti) Berry, 97, of Freeport, passed away on Friday, July 1st, while in the company of family members, at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Elva was born in Freeport, on February 12, 1919, a daughter of the late Domenica (Nuti) and Enrico  Ugoletti. She was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport. She was a cook and cashier at the White Star Club in Buffalo Twp., for 50 years. Elva was also the treasurer of the White Star Ladies Auxiliary for 40 years.  She was a Golden Eagle member of the Freeport F.O.E.  She enjoyed reading, and especially cooking for her family. She made the best homemade ravioli, cappelletti soup, pizza from scratch and spaghetti sauce along with her many other Italian dishes. She enjoyed hosting many years of family holidays.


She is survived by her 2 Daughters Christine (Larry) Dananay, of Allegheny Twp. and Mary Ann (Cal Tedone) Shinko, of Leechburg; 5 grandchildren Michele (Bryan) Krassman, Gina Shinko, Jamie (Rose) Shinko, Jordan Dananay and Kacey (Colin Cope) Dananay, 3 great grandchildren Kaylee Krassman, Alyssa Shinko and Nathan Shinko; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her husband Morris "Sudy" Berry, grandson Keith Shinko, son-in-law George Shinko; sisters Rosie Eshenbaugh, Antoinette Smith and Edna Verardi, and her brothers Henry & Louis Ugoletti.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday July 5th from 4-7 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday July 6th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport at 10 a.m. with Father Ronald Maquinana officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport.
