Georgeanne Swartz, 83, of Fairwinds Manor Nursing Home in Winfield Township formerly of Freeport, Pennsylvania died December 12, 2016. Born March 6, 1933 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. Georgeanne was the widow of James E. Swartz Sr., who passed away on August 5, 1994. Georgeanne was a member for over 50 years of the Freeport United Methodist Church, where she also acted as the treasurer of the Sunday School for many years and was the church janitor for 15 years. She was a former member of the Freeport Fireman’s Auxiliary and volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul in Leechburg. She loved to bake, and anyone that knew “Georgie” undoubtedly had tasted one of her nut rolls or orange cookies over the years. Christmas was her favorite time for baking, some years she would bake in excess of 300 dozen of cookies. She also enjoyed attending weekly bingo at the fire hall with all of her friends and loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Georgeanne leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Diana L. (Gary) Risch Sr. of Sarver, her son, James E. (Margie) Swartz Jr. of Freeport, her daughter, Beverley J. Ravotti of Natrona Heights, daughter Kathy S. (Barry) Risch of Freeport and daughter-in-law, Sue Swartz of Freeport. Grandchildren, Gary L. Risch Jr., Vicki L. (Ed) Selker, Renee L. (Chad) Alchier, Dominic R. Ravotti, Tatum E. Risch, Andrew J. & Matthew A. Swartz. Great-Grandchildren, Garrett Risch, Ella Risch, Jenna, Sydney & Reese Selker, Grant & Camille Alchier. Her half-brothers Steven (Ginger) Chambers of San Francisco, California, Mark Chambers of Houston, Texas, and Joseph McAllister, Jr. of Santa Clara, California, her half-sisters, Debra Chambers of Austin Texas and Diane (Joe) Morin of Concord, California and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her mother Florence I. Chambers, her grandparents that raised her, George S. and AnnaBelle Innes, her son Frederick A. Swartz, granddaughters, Jennifer S. Meckley and Kayla A. Swartz, son-in-law Robert Ravotti and a very special aunt & uncle that was near and dear to Georgeanne’s heart, Lillian (Tootie) McGregor & James Toy Innes. Viewing for family and friends will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, December 14th in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High Street, Freeport. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 15th in the chapel at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 4th Street, Freeport with Pastor Dawn Lynn Check officiating. Burial will follow in Freeport Cemetery, Freeport.

Jimmy, Bev, Diane, Cubby and families, My heart is breaking for you all. I hope you have comfort in knowing what a wonderful mom you have. Cherish the memories and know that many people share great memories of your mom. Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas at our house without the taste of my attempt at Georgeanne's nut rolls. Rejoice in the knowledge that she is whole again and surrounded by a multitude of those who love her.

To all the Swartz's,
We are so sorry for your loss. Georgeanne was a very special lady who will be missed by so many. I remember how she taught me to play jacks on the front porch. I loved walking in the Swartz's front door and hearing her say, "Hi Barbie, how are you?" There was always something good baking in the oven. I will always keep memories of Geargeanne in my heart! Hugs to you all!

Cyndee and I extend our deepest sympathy to you Di, Jim, Bev and Kathy. What a wonderful person you were all so fortunate to have for a mom. From growing up on Franklin St. and hanging out at your house almost every day, I felt like Georgeanne was my second mom. Anyone who ever had one of her nut rolls or chocolate chip cookies would have surely had a smile on their face, that same smile that she always had on hers. Such great memories we all have of of one of the nicest people God ever put on this earth. Rest in His peace, Georgie.
Sincerely,
PW

Kathy and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, especially at this time of year. Losing your mom is something that one can not truly understand until it is personally experienced. Your parents are together now, perhaps your mom has a long list of requests in heaven for her beloved nut rolls and orange cookies. I lost my father just before the Christmas holiday, I feel for your loss and how different it will seem tis year. Be strong and remember the good times and all the love she gave each and everyone of you. Sincerely, Lou Ann

Di ,Jim, Bev, Kathy, I was so saddened to hear of your Mom's passing. We have so many good memories of the many times we got to share through the years with this wonderful woman. She was always ready to volunteer or help in any way. Her smile and friendly greeting were well known around town and beyond. She was loved by all and will be missed. You were very lucky to have her as your Mom, friend and confidant May she rest in peace and know that her job on earth was well served. Thinking of you all at this very sad time. PS: AS many times as I tried to make her nut roll cookies they never came out like Georgie's. She even had me in her kitchen trying to show me-nope not the same. Hope one of you has the knack. God Bless you all, she raised a good family.

Jimmy, Diane, Bev, and Kathy,

I was so very sad to see that Aunt Georgeanne had passed away. Sending my deepest sympathies to all of you. She was my favorite Aunt and I have so many wonderful memories of her. She always called me Mags and my mom Ritz. Always loved spending Christmas Eve on Franklin street, and nobody made a better orange cookie or chocolate chip. I always enjoyed taking my mom to see her when she was at Chicora and I have a picture of the two of them that I will cherish forever. I know how extremely hard it is to lose a parent and especially during the holiday. I pray you will all not only find comfort with one and other but that she is once again with Uncle Jim. Sorry I won't be able to make it to see you all but I fell recently and had shoulder surgery but know you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Margaret
