Gregory A. Shoop, Sr., 65, of Freeport, passed away on Monday, December 12th, unexpectedly, at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Greg was born in Pittsburgh on September 24, 1951. He was the son of the late Margaret (Bollinger) and John H. Shoop. Greg was a truck driver for 36 years. He worked for ABF Freight Systems in Pittsburgh and retired in 2005. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamster, Local #249. Greg was a member of Evangel Heights Assembly of God in Buffalo Twp. Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, watching Pirates baseball games, trips to the casino and spending time with his family.  Greg had also enjoyed racing in the demolition derbies and enduro races at Lernerville Speedway. Greg is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce A. (Coward) Shoop. His 2 sons, Gregory A. Shoop, Jr. of Freeport and John & Elizabeth Shoop of South Buffalo Twp. His 3 grandchildren, Shelby, Lilly & Levi Shoop. His brother, James (Ida) Shoop of Bairdford, PA. His 2 sisters, Cheryl (Keith) Baker of Buffalo Twp. and Cindy (Michael) Penn of Freeport. Greg is also survived by his brother in law, Edward Slimick of Roundup, MT and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Greg is preceded in death by his brother Jack Shoop who was killed in action during the Vietnam War. His sister, Judy Slimick, his mother and father in law, Anne & John Coward and a brother in law, Jeff "Cookie" Coward. Family and friends will be received on Thursday Dec. 15th from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Service will be held 11:00 on Friday, December 16th at Evangel Heights Assembly of God in Sarver, PA . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freeport VFW Post 6648 102 5th St. Freeport, PA 16229

Joyce and family,
