Edward L. Straughn, 72, of Buffalo Twp., passed away on Wednesday, January 25th, while in the company of family, at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights. Ed was born in Pittsburgh on October 15, 1944. He was the son of the late Irene (Schroth) McDivitt and Edward E. Straughn. He was employed as a Plant Supervisor at Freeport Brick Company Freeport, PA., for 40 years. Ed worked in the summers for Brackenridge Golf Course. Ed was a member of a local archaeologists society. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and collecting arrow heads. He was an avid reader who enjoyed books on archaeology, Tom Clancy and Stephen King novels. He and his wife enjoyed traveling through out the US and abroad. He was the husband of Yetta for 50 years, they were married on June 11, 1966 at St. Mary's in Freeport. Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yetta M. (Scott) Straughn. His son and daughter in law, Erik & Amy Straughn, of Herman. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Cheyanne & Dallas Straughn, great grandson, Elliot Straughn and 2 step grandchildren, Zachary & McKenna Milliren. Also his step-mother Lottie Straughn of Connecticut. Ed is preceded in death by his daughter, Gretl Straugh-Milliren and his grandmother who raised him, Naomi Schroth. Family and friends will be received on 3-7 pm on Saturday, January 28th at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. in Freeport, PA. I was really sadden to hear of Ed's passing. Health issues keeping us from attending. Our family has yours' in our prayers.
