James G. Koedel, 86, of Fawn Twp., passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Jim was born in Natrona Heights on August 13, 1931. He is the son of the late Dorothy (Lucas) and Kenneth Koedel, Sr. Jim served in the U.S. Army during in the Korean War. After the war he took a job with Allegheny Ludlum Steel (ATI) in Brackenridge. Jim worked for A&L Steel for 45 years, retiring in 1993. Jim was a member of the Natrona Heights VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary M. (Chiado) Koedel. Their two daughters, Mary Jo McAllister, of Natrona Heights and Karen Dewaine, of Hudson, FL. His grand daughter Dana Pompei and her companion, Everett Lesueur of Freeport and his two great grandchildren, James Pompei, Jr & Kara Pompei. Jim is also survived by his half sister, Sis Miller, of Creighton; two half brothers, Paul & Debbie Koedel, of Natrona Heights; Rick & Jeannie Koedel, of Plum, sister in law, Patricia Koedel of Buffalo Twp. Step sister, Ellen Faix, of Logans Ferry; step brother, Thomas Kuhn, of Natrona Heights and the entire Simpson family. He is preceded by his brother, Kenneth Koedel, Jr., 5 step brothers, Herbert, Leonard, Robert, Donald & George Kuhn. Family and friends will be received Friday, December 29th from 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St., in Freeport. Viewing will continue on Sat, Dec 30th from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 am with Rev. C. Drew Myers of Center United Methodist Church in Fawn Twp., officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport. ONE OF THE NICEST MEN I WORKED WITH IN 8-7 MELT SHOP. HIM AND THE CAPT WERE ALWAYS GOOD PEOPLE. WOULD RUN INTO HIM IN PAST YRS ON MEMORIAL DAY ALONG WITH THE CAPT. MAY HE REST IN PEACE AND MAY THE ANGELS LEAD HIM INTO PARADISE
