Virginia Louise Sweeney, 89, of Kittanning, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 peacefully, at Armstrong County Health Center in Kittanning. Louise was a longtime resident of Saxonburg. Louise was born in Manor Twp., Armstrong Co. on May 28, 1928. She is the daughter of the late Ina (Spang) and Earl Shannon. She was the widow of Richard K. Sweeney who passed in 2015. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards, patch work quilting, crocheting, craft work, baking & cooking. Louise had worked for a number of years in the deli department for Kroger's Co. at the Butler, Allison Park, Natrona Heights and the Kittanning Stores. Louise is a longtime member and past deacon of the Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg. Louise is survived by her four daughters, Diane, wife of John Shirley, of South Buffalo Twp; Kathy Chambers, of Canton, GA; Sharon, wife of Mike Carr, of Natrona Heights; Margie Sweeney & John Hoak, of Natrona Heights and her son,Mark Richard Sweeney, of Carlisle. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild and two sisters, Jean Hughes, of Las Vegas; Gloria McConville, of Phoenix. She is preceded in death by her son in law, Robert Chambers and her sister, Nancy Smock Family and friends will be received on on Sunday, March 25th from 12-2 & 5-7 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport, PA Funeral service will be held in 10:00 am on Monday, March 26th at in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Janet Hufford officiating. A private family burial will be held at Freeport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church 390 Frazier Rd. Saxonburg, PA 16056
