Robert Bergstrom, 88, of Natrona Heights passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 3rd, at his daughter's home in Buffalo Twp. Bob was born in Natrona, PA on April 10, 1930, a son of the late Lydia (Lefdahl) and Verner Bergstrom. He was the widower of Eunice (Anthony) Bergstrom who passed in 2008. Bob was a 1948 graduate of HarBrack High School. While in high school, Bob was a standout baseball player as a short stop and pitcher. After graduating he was signed by the New York Yankees to play on their farm team. He gave up his baseball career to start his family. He was a Turn Foreman in the 8-2 Bar Mill at Allegheny Technologies Incorporated in Brackenridge. He worked for 31 years and retired in 1981. Bob enjoyed golfing, was an avid baseball fan, handyman and had built a number of homes over the years. What he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family Bob is survived by his son, Robert C. & Judy Bergstrom, of Freeport; two daughters, Jody & William Lukac, of Harrison Twp. and Bonnie & Ronald Winning, of Buffalo Twp; Two grandsons, Drew & Melissa Lukac and Lee Bergstrom. Five granddaughters, Chelsey & Eric McMahon, Lindsay Bergstrom, Katie & Kevin Bowser, Tracey & Michael Winning-Rozelle and Becky & Chris Glover. Five great grandchildren, Allie & Aislyn McMahon, Payton & Mackenzie Lukac and Lilee Bergstrom. Bob is also survived by his brother, Edward Bergstrom, of Cabot. In addition to his parents and his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Carney and Florence Porter, his brother Oscar Bergstrom and a brother in infancy. Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 10:30 am in the St. Mary Mother of God Fellowship Hall in Freeport. A private burial will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights. Bob’s family would like to thank his care givers, Tara Harvey, AHN Home Hospice and to Ron Winning who gave round the clock care to his father in law.
