Donna Lucas Obituary

Donna Jean Lucas, 80 of South Buffalo Twp. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 28, 2024. Donna was born on August 8, 1943, in the Boggsville section of Armstrong Co. She was the daughter of the late Edna Mae (Harbison) and Clement Leo Gray. Donna was the widow of Jim L. Lucas who passed in September of 23'. Donna's journey through life was marked by her compassion and a trailblazing spirit that inspired all who knew her. She was a proud 1961 graduate of Freeport High School. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue higher education with a BS in Business Management from Geneva College and a master's degree in labor law from St. Francis University at the age of 56. Professionally she was a pioneer as the first ever female president of the International Management Council. Her tenure as assistant manager of human resources at Moonlight Mushrooms and her work at the Port Authority of Pittsburgh showcased her exceptional leadership. Donna's dedication to service went beyond her professional life; she was an esteemed member of the board at ARC Manor, as well as the Board of Armstrong County. Her work in all roles was recognized with innumerable certificates of appreciation and excellence and other awards underscoring her invaluable contributions to her community. Donna is survived by her daughters, Tammy & Jim Ashbaugh and Michelle & Tim Keener. Her grandchildren, Jimmie R. Lucas, Cassie Woods, Lucas & Ashlie Woods and Brad Keener. Her great grandchildren, Keigan and Maverick Lucas and Lucie Woods. Sister in laws, Mary Ellen Gray and Janet & Randy Stivenson. Brother in laws Bill & Laurie Bowser and Sonny Bowser. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother, Robert J. Gray. Donna's absence will be deeply felt but the example that she set as a loving mentor and leader will resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will forever be a guiding light as she rests in peace. At the family's request, funeral services will be private, and she will be buried beside her husband in the Slate Lick Cemetery in Slate Lick.
