James Stewart Obituary

James A. (Jim) Stewart 83, of Freeport, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 while surrounded by his family, at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born in Natrona Heights, on January 17, 1941, a son of the late Harold K. Stewart and Emma E. (Redick) Stewart.

Jim was a 1959 graduate of Freeport High School, where he played both offensive and defense on the football team and was a standout pitcher and first baseman for multiple WPIAL and section championship baseball teams. He attended Salem College on a baseball scholarship. Jim started his working career at Freeport Brick and later took a job at T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Company. He retired in 2007 after 37 years of service working as a roustabout. He was a member of the former Rogers Chapel United Methodist Church, a life member of the Freeport Sportsman's Club and participated in various trap shooting leagues in the area where he was always a top shooter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, reloading, leather work and spending time with his family and friends.

 He is survived by two daughters, Carrie A. (Randy) Conjack, of South Buffalo Twp. and Renee L. (Greg) Pachol, of Warren, OH, two sons James A. (Laura) Stewart, III, of Buffalo Twp. and Richard L. (Nancy) Stewart, of Buffalo Twp., grandchildren, Talan and Melissa Conjack, Kiel and Lindsay Conjack, Alyssa Conjack and Wesley Cox, Kylie and Mark Schoppe, Nicole and Nicholas Dinsmore, Lurena Stewart, Addison Stewart, Paityn Stewart and Coulton Stewart and four great grandchildren, Emmett, Jameson, Cameron and Jacob.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda J. (Jack) Stewart who passed away in 2004, and a sister Janice A. "Sis" Stewart.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High Street, Freeport.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m at the funeral home.
