On April 1, 1968, Richard L. Redmond purchased the John R. Cherry Funeral Home in Freeport, Pennsylvania. He operated the business as Richard L. Redmond Funeral Home, Successor to John R. Cherry, according to Pennsylvania state regulations. After five years the business name became "Richard L. Redmond Funeral Home" and continued to operate under this name as a sole proprietorship until July 1, 1997. In 1997, the funeral home name changed once again when the organization was incorporated under Pennsylvania law. The funeral home now does business as "Redmond Funeral Home, Inc."

In 1992 Richard's son, W. Ryan Redmond, began his career and completed his internship in 1995. Ryan continued to work with his father until 2002, when he stepped into the role of owner of Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. Together with his wife, Callie, Ryan dedicated 22 years to the community.

On April 4, 2024, Ryan and Callie sold the family business to Ashley D. (Hickman) Rogers, a lifelong resident and funeral director from Armstrong County. Along with longtime employee Mark S. Arvay and Ryan's continued employment after the ownership change, the staff of Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. will continue to maintain the high standards of care and service the community has received for the past 56 years.
