Mrs. Ethel I. (Barnhart) Turner, 93, of Freeport, passed away at 11:30 AM, Friday, July 20th, 2007 peacefully at Highlands Nursing Home, Brackenridge, PA.Mrs. Turner was born in Meridian, PA on September 13, 1913, the daughter of the late John and Sadie (Schlagel) Barnhart.Mrs. Turner worked at the Butler Shirt Factory in Butler for a number of years. During WW II she made socks a shirts for the soldiers going over seas.Mrs. Turner was a member of Freeport United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and going to yard sales. She was a past volunteer for the Freeport Meals on Wheels. She had been a Sunday school teacher and was involved with various church actives. She was also a past Den Mother for the Boy Scouts.Ethel is survived by her 2 sons, Dale W. Turner of Freeport., Gary E. Turner of Oakland Twp., Butler and her daughter, Martha (Phil Pavey) Turner of Wantirna, AUS (Victoria). A sister, Janet (Chester) Aspelin and 6 Grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband John H. Turner, who passed away in 2003. 2 brothers, Harry and Merle Barnhart and a sister, Myrtle Oasterling.Family and friends are being received on Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. Freeport. PA. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 24th, with Rev. William Mumaw officiating. Burial will be in the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Freeport Area Library 428 Market St. Freeport, PA 16229
