Raffaelina Grazioso, 93, last of Freeport, passed away on July 24, 2012, at Highlands Center Genesis, Brackenridge surrounded by loving family members. She was born September 22, 1918, in Lago, Italy, to the late Angelo and Pasqualina Palermo. She came to America in 1953 and lived in Vandergrift for over thirty years before moving to Freeport, and finally Highlands Center Genesis, in Brackenridge. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Freeport.
At the age of 12 she and her brother Alfred had to be left behind in Italy by her mother and brother Arthur, in the care of her older sister due to a complicated set of circumstances. She did not see any of them again until 23 years later when they were reunited in Vandergrift. Even under circumstances that would have left a young girl bewildered she never lost her love, trust and compassion for people.
Her greatest loves were cooking, baking, gardening and helping anyone who was in need. She always found time to help others and loved doing it. She was most happy when everyone was full of good food and could not eat any more, and then, she would give them leftovers for the road or a loaf of home baked bread or cookies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Onofrio "Tony" Grazioso in 1986, three brothers, Saverio, Alfred, and Arthur Palermo, and her sister Carolina Palermo- Bruni who lived in Italy.
She is survived by her son, Guy C. (Annette) Grazioso, of New Kensington, John (Diane) Grazioso, of Upper Burrell, and Albina Faiella (Daniel) Sutara of Buffalo TWP.; six grandchildren, Alvin (Amy) Faiella, Angelina Faiella, Anthony James (Cathy) Faiella, Johnny Grazioso, Anthony Grazioso, Mia Grazioso; six great-grandchildren, Daniella, Gabriela, Matthew, Rachel, Aiden and Emma, and one great-great-grandchild; Brayden. Additionally, she had many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Friday July 27th from 4-9 pm. In the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA.
A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am that will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 28th, with Father Raphael Glinkowsky officiating.
Burial will be held in the Greenwood Memorial Park New Kensington, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Mother of God Church 608 High St. Freeport, PA 16229

Tony and I were very sorry to hear of your loss of your mom. It is an experience that we all are never ready for. It is much easier when you have loved ones whether friends or family are with you. You and your family were recently very comforting to me upon my fathers passing. I am sorry I am unable to be with your family at this time of sorrow. She will be with you in spirit and every day remember the good days you were able to spend with her. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
