Johanna R. Timashenka, 72, of South Buffalo Township, passed away after a short illness at 12:26 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011, while in the company of family, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia in Cabot, PA.

Johanna was born in Blairsville, PA on June 19, 1939, the daughter of the late Minerva L. (Zelwis) and Edward Magowan. She was a 1957 graduate of New Kensington High School. She worked for over 30 years as a laboratory technician and a laboratory supervisor at Citizens General Hospital in New Kensington, PA, retiring in 1998. Johanna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport, PA. She enjoyed making crafts, planning family events, researching her genealogy, playing cards with her card club, and especially spending time with her grandson.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Theodore Fred Timashenka; their three children, Theodore (and Susan) Timashenka of Endicott, NY, Julie (and Philip) Grasha of Butler, PA, and Todd (and Julie) Timashenka of Norfolk, VA; their grandson Kyle Grasha; and her sister Julia (and Robert) Hardy of Stoddard, NH.

Family and friends are being received on Tuesday, November 1st from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Redmond Funeral Home in Freeport. There will be a viewing at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport at 10 a.m. on Wednesday followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Higgins officiating. Burial service will be held at Deer Creek Cemetery in Cheswick, PA.
