Joseph F. Bures, Jr., 81, of Freeport, passed away at 10:58 PM, Thursday, August 18th, peacefully, at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia, in Cabot,. Joe was born in Freeport, on October 23, 1929, the son of the late Isabelle and Joseph F. Bures, Sr. He was the widower of Trudy (Zlatnik) Bures, who passed away in 2008. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Joe was a lifelong member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church Freeport. Joe worked his entire life in the hardware industry. He worked for Stockdale's Hardware in Tarentum, at McConnell Waterson in Kittanning, and retired from Worthington Hardware. Joe played the drums for many years with "Johnny and the Capris" and in his younger years, enjoyed riding motorcycles.

Joseph is survived by his two children: daughter Linda Sypulski, of South Buffalo Twp.; and son Gary J. and Jolene Bures, of Cowenshanick Twp; 6 grandchildren Michelle and Bob Smith, Randy and Sara Sypulski, Ryan and Jess Sypulski, Jessica Bures, Stephanie Bures and Alisha Crossman; and 2 great-grandchildren Jordan R. Smith.& Olivia Grace Smith He is preceded in death by his son-in-law Randy Sypulski who passed in 2009.

Family and friends are being received on Sunday August 21st from 12-2 and 4-6 p.m.. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am to be followed by Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in St. Mary, Mother of God Church, Freeport, at 10:00 am on Monday, August 22nd, with Father Sebastian Hanks officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport.
