Harry J. Reed, 80, of Buffalo Twp., .passed away Saturday, December 4th, 2010 at Butler Co. Memorial Hospital, Butler. Harry was born in Natrona Heights, PA on June 29, 1930, the son of the late Harry J. and Jennie (Duff) Reed. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. Harry worked as a grinder and heavy equipment operator at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 49 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member at the New Hope Baptist Church in Saxonburg and was the person that came up with the name of the church. Harry enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, working on cars, and spending time with his family





He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys A. (Reinhold) Reed. His two sons Carl Reed of Ford City and Thomas (Bonnie) Reed of Ben Wheeler, TX. A daughter Denise (Ernie Henry) Reed of Rancho Cordova, CA and 7 grandchildren; Nathanael Reed, Connie Bell, Jennie (Bill) Westbrook, twins Gregory and Robert Viruet, Emilee Reed, and Harry Reed IV. 7 great-grandchildren; Marissa Bell, Jacob Bell, Abigail Westbrook, Aryana Viruet, twins Abigail and Alyssa Viruet, and Harper Westbrook. He was preceded in death by his son Harry Reed III.



Family and friends are being received on Wednesday December 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home at 10:00 on Thursday December 9th with his pastor K.L. McDeavitt officiating. Burial will be held in Freeport Cemetery, Freeport. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Harry's name to the New Hope Baptist Church, 174 Ivywood Rd. Saxonburg Pa 16056-2312
