Mrs. Mary E. Brestensky, 96, of Allegheny Twp., passed away Tuesday morning, March 30th, 2010 peacefully at her daughters residence in Bethel Twp.

Mary was born in Freeport, PA on March 13, 1914, the daughter of the late Ignatius and Sophie (Chmielewski) Rykaczewski. She was the widow of Stephen J. Brestensky who passed away in 1996

She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Freeport, PA ., where she was a member of the choir for many years. Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughter of America, Christian Mothers and an aux. member Legion of Mary in Ford City. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing 500, bingo, crocheting, going out to eat and spending time with her grandchildren

Mary is survived by and 4 children: Sons Thomas (Martina) Brestensky of Allegheny Twp.
Richard J. (Karen) Brestensky, Sr. of Allegheny Twp. and her daughters Marie Terese (Robert) Phillips of Bethel Twp. and Rosemary (Gary) Suchy of Franklin, PA.

She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her son Stephen T. Brestensky, grandson Richard J. Brestensky, Jr. and her two brothers Roman and Thomas Rykaczewski.

Family and friends are being received on Monday April. from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. in the
Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport, PA. A parish wake service at 8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am that will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, PA, at 10:00 am on Tuesday April 6th, with Father Edward Volz officiating.

Burial service will be held in the St. Mary's Cemetery Freeport, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church 608 High St. Freeport, PA 16229.
