Mr. Regis P. Barr, 90, of Freeport, passed away at 5:00 AM, Sunday, June 8th, 2008 while in the company of family members at Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning, PA.Mr. Barr was born in Freeport, PA on August 13, 1917, the son of the late Herman J. and Bertha E. (Fuhrman) Barr. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Freeport and he served in the US Army as a Sgt. in WW II. Regis was a self-employed carpenter for over 70 years. He started working with his father when he was just a boy and has passed the trade on to his children.Regis was a member of the Holy Names Society. He is a life member and one of the oldest members of the Freeport Sportsman's Club. Regis enjoyed hunting, woodworking and gardening. His greatest love was for his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna (Donnelly) Barr. His two daughters; Brenda (John) DeMeno of Freeport and Kris (Jack) Steiner of West Kittanning.4 son; Paul (Sis) Barr of Freeport., Brian (Linda) Barr of South Buffalo Twp, Carl Barr of Freeport and Gerry (Margie) Barr of Rigby, ID. Regis is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. 2 sister: Jane Thompson of Freeport., Phyllis Barr of Freeport.He is preceded in death by his 4 sisters; Margaret Keefer, Matilda Barr, Mary McConville and Mercedes Craig. An infant brother and sisterFamily and friends are being received on Monday June 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 High St. Freeport A parting prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, PA, with Father Raphael Glinkowski, a family friend officiating. Burial will be held at the St. Mary's Cemetery Freeport, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Armstrong County Health Center 265 South McKean St. Kittanning, PA 16201.
