Janet B. VanDyke, 94, of South Buffalo Twp., passed away on Thursday, May 17th, 2018 while in the company of family in the Butler Co. Memorial Hospital in Butler. Janet was born in Kittanning, PA on June 21, 1923. She is the daughter of the late Nancy (Walker) and Albert Roscoe "A.R." Boarts. She was the widow of Kenneth R. VanDyke who passed in 1995. Janet was a 1941 graduate of Kittanning High School. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for her father's business. She had also done office work for Allegheny River Mining Co. Janet enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport. Janet is survived by her two daughters, Barbara A. VanDyke, of Hamar Twp.; Shirley L. VanDyke, of South Buffalo Twp. and her son, Richard K. VanDyke, of South Buffalo Twp. She is also survived by Grandchildren, Thomas M. VanDyke Schmaus & his wife, Sarah Ginestet, Kathryn E. VanDyke Schmaus, Harley L. Westerman. Great granddaughter, Elize Solene Schmaus. Sister in law, Maxine Boarts and brother in law Edward Leard. Numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded by her sister, Elizabeth Leard, brother, R. Graham Boarts and her brother and sister in law, Richard G. & Alice Boarts. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday May 22nd fro 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. in Freeport. Public visitation will continue on Wed May 23rd. from 10-11 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church 323 Fifth St. in Freeport. Funeral service will follow at 11 am with the Rev. James V. Arter, III officiating. Burial will be held in McVille Union Cemetery in South Buffalo Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Trinity Lutheran Church 323 Fifth St. Freeport, PA 16229 or Freeport Food Bank 312 High St. Freeport, PA 16229
