Albert R. Ferney, 77, of South Buffalo Township, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, while surrounded by his family at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Al was born July 1, 1944, in Tarentum, a son of the late Mary (Thimmons) and Frank R. Ferney. Al was a 1962 graduate of Tarentum High School. Al worked for various companies after high school. In 1974, he and two others started I.M.M., Inc. They deconstructed steel mills and other manufacturing facilities, removing machinery and other industrial equipment. Al is still with the company today. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, metal detecting and panning for gold. If he wasn't building something, he was tearing something down. He attended Freeport United Methodist Church. Al is survived by his two daughters, Lori (David) Gaspersic, of South Buffalo Township, and Anita Ferney, of Prospect; his grandchildren, Morgan and David Gaspersic; and his longtime friend, care giver and partner, Nancy (Parker) Balentine. Al is also survived by his brother, Frank (Celestine) Ferney, of California, Md.; his stepbrother, John (Denise) Kish, of Leechburg; and his ex-wife, Betty (McCrackan) Ferney, of Florida. Al was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin sisters. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., in Freeport. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, in the funeral home with Pastor Diane Randolph officiating.
