Barbara L. Richardson passed away April 24, 2026 in Cabot, Pennsylvania. Born March 16, 1945 in Ridley Park Pennsylvania to Clark R. and Grace (Hunter) Allison. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, sister Anna Mae (Allison) Stout, and husband Keith A. Richardson. She is survived by her daughter Carrie (Richardson) Smilowitz, grandchildren Sarah Mae and Keith David Smilowitz, and brother Clark Hunter Allison, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Barbara’s unique personality led her to a variety of volunteer work, including acting as a youth group mentor, coaching boys’ club basketball, cleaning up after hurricane Agnes, collecting and donating tennis equipment to inner city schools of Buffalo, NY, designing a wheelchair garden with the Garden Club of Johnstown, PA, and hitching and driving horses (buggies and carts) with the nearby Mennonite community. After surviving cancer, she spent nine years volunteering at a local cancer center in Johnstown, PA, always wearing her collection of quirky hats and passing out candy and goodies to patients receiving chemotherapy. She was a proud member of the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, where she was a deacon, participated in bell choir and sang with the adult choir, including solos that she wrote herself.
Her family will have a private memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, Freeport, PA or Orphans of the Storm in Kittanning, PA.
