Boyd Baker Obituary

Boyd E. Baker, 85, of South Buffalo Twp. passed away peacefully on Monday, October 18, 2021, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. Boyd was born in Apollo, PA on March 19, 1936, a son of the late Cleo Myrtle (Swank) and Schuyler Lloyd Baker. He was a 1954 graduate of Apollo High School. Boyd held various jobs after high school and then entered the tool & die trade. He was employed at Oberg Industries for 30 years. He started as a machinist and ended his career in the shipping and receiving department. Boyd retired in 1999. Throughout all his years he always worked and loved his family farm. He farmed and raised beef cattle for over 64 years. Boyd was a social member of the South Buffalo Vol. Fire Dept. where he was continually active with the fire hall events and put in many hours to help restore the fire hall's original antique fire engine. He volunteered with the Kittanning Food Bank. Boyd enjoyed working on old cars and was a member of the Kit-Han-Ne Car Club. He enjoyed woodworking and would make wooden toys for children when spending his winters in Florida. Boyd was a member of the First Church of God in Kittanning. He served in the US Army as a Military Police Officer. Boyd is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patty R. (Rumbaugh) Baker. His children, Kevin E. Baker, of Marienville, Karen L. and Joseph Zambotti, Jr. of Kittanning and David K. Baker and Mary Weyer of Plum Creek Twp. His grandchildren; Nicole & Cliff Barton, Joseph & Nicole Zambotti, III, Natalie & Tyler Cotherman, Kyle & Brianna Baker, Paige Baker and Joshua Weyer. seven great-grandchildren, Brooke and Quinn Barton, Joey IV, Cole and Joselynn Zambotti, and Cade and baby boy Cotherman due in February 2022 Boyd is also survived by three brothers, Thomas Baker and Suzanne Pahls, of The Villages, FL: Merle and Carol Baker, of Jeanette and Gerald and Marleen Baker, of Madison, WI. At Boyd's request there will be no public visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, October 31st at First Church of God, 13374 Route 422 in Kittanning, PA with Pastor Nick Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Buffalo Vol. Fire Dept 100 Firehall  Rd. Freeport, PA 16229 or First Church of God, 13374 US Route 422, Kittanning, PA 16201.
