Bronwen Davies Wonders

Bronwen Davies Wonders, 88, of Saxonburg, formerly South Buffalo Township, passed away Sunday, April 23rd at home with family. She was born January 13, 1935 to the late David E. Davies and Rebecca Davies (Moffat) in Squirrel Hill, PA. Bronwen graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 1953. She attended Carnegie Tech for art and later Median School of Allied Careers working as a licensed practical nurse for several years. She also worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker from 1987-1996. Bronwen married Harry William Wonders Sr. in 1957, who predeceased her in January 2005, with whom she had four children and eight grandchildren – son, Harry W. Wonders Jr. (Mary Beth Mason) of Export, daughters Sarah Wonders of Frederick, MD and Elizabeth Wonders of New Orleans, LA; Rebecca L. Peli (Jim Peli) of Saxonburg with whom she lived for 11 years, son James Peli of Saxonburg; daughter Laura A. Solla (Timothy Solla) of Freeport, daughter Shelby Solla of Brooklyn, NY; Paul D. Wonders (Claudine Cardinali), son Zachary Wonders of Freeport, daughter Madeline Wonders of Natrona Heights, son Tyler Wonders of Freeport, and daughter Hannah Wonders of Freeport. Bronwen and Harry moved from White Oak, PA to a beautiful working farm in South Buffalo Township in 1972, where they raised horses, cattle, and many farm animals. She loved canning fruits and vegetables and was an incredible home cook and baker. Active in the community, Bronwen was a volunteer at ACMH Hospital and a member, Elder, and Deacon at Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church where she was active with the Presbyterian Women’s Association, Friendly Fellowship Class, prayer chain and choir. She loved decorative arts including paint and ceramics, camping with her husband and many friends, bowling, card club, gardening, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and dear friends. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, April 26th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St in Freeport. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 27th at 10am. with Rev. Mark Davis, officiating. Burial services will be held at Slate Lick Cemetery.
