Charles R. "Ray" Acre, 90, of Sarver, passed away Friday, February 23rd, at Quality Life Services Sarver. Ray was born in Freeport, on October 2, 1933, a son of the late Maude Elizabeth (Shields) and Francis Milton Acre. Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a weight master at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge, for 32 years. Ray was a member of the Freeport Eagles & VFW. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, baseball, and photography. Ray is survived by his brother, John W. Acre, of Monroeville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Frederick M. & Robert S. Acre, his twin that passed away at infancy, and his sister Marie Taylor. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 25th from 4-6 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A private family burial will be held in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley 533 Linden Ave New Kensington, PA 15068.
