Charlotte Kelley Obituary

Charlotte “Char” (Blewett) Kelley, formerly of the Freeport-Sarver area in Pennsylvania, was a 1967 graduate of Freeport Area Senior High School. She was most recently a resident of Greensboro, North Carolina, living with her daughter and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on August 17, 1947, at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, PA, Charlotte was the beloved daughter of the late James M. Blewett and Velma B. (Bennett) Blewett. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loving sister, and loyal friend whose gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched everyone who knew her. Charlotte was a past member of Freeport United Methodist Church and dedicated her life to caring for others. She served with kindness and grace as a nurse at Harmarville Rehabilitation Center and later in private duty care. Her nurturing nature and deep empathy were evident in both her work and her relationships, leaving a lasting impact on those in her care. Charlotte is lovingly survived by her three children: Denise (John) Ellis of Greensboro, NC; Kenneth (Chrystal) Kelley of Tarentum, PA; and Stephen (Jennifer) Kelley of Raleigh, NC. She was a proud and adoring grandmother—affectionately known as “Mommy-Mom”—to Kenley and Grayson Ellis, Kyla and Julia Kelley, Kara Noyes, and Chelsea McWilliams, all of whom were the light of her life. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Velma (Jack) Luketic and Helen Presko, both of Cadogan, PA; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Blewett; and several beloved nieces and nephews: Bonnie Hill, James Blewett, Erin Radic, Joshua Luketic, and Victoria Blewett. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Charlotte’s cousin Paulette Lipsie (Miller), her special niece Cassidy (Mike) Gilbertsen who was more like a daughter, and her lifelong friend Georgetta Wolfe (Fields) for their sister-like bond, as well as to her special friends Louise and Patty Bucklen, whose friendships brought her great joy and comfort through the years. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, James and Velma Blewett; her beloved husband, Kenneth W. Kelley; her brother, Gary Blewett; nephews Joseph Blewett and Jeremy Luketic; and her brother-in-law, Charles Presko, Jr. Charlotte will be fondly remembered for her strength, her unwavering love for her family, and her many passions—including being Christmas Tree Queen, gifting, baking, playing cards, shopping, beachcombing for shells, and crafting. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her—through the scent of her favorite perfume “Clinique Elixer,” the sparkle of her style, and the warmth of her generous Christmas-like spirit year-round. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 2–4 PM and 6–8 PM at Redmond Funeral Home (524 High St, Freeport, PA). A burial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11 AM, beginning at Redmond Funeral Home and proceeding to Plum Creek Cemetery (670 Center New Texas Rd, Pittsburgh, PA). A bereavement luncheon will follow at Cadogan Union Hall (324 A 1st Ave, Cadogan, PA).
