Christopher M. Shipe, 31, of Monroeville, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, surrounded by family and best friend at his parent's home. Chris was born in Pittsburgh on August 22, 1992, a son of Nancy K. (Kulikowski) and Peter E. Shipe, of the Slate Lick section of Armstrong Co. Chris attended St. Mary's elementary school and was a 2010 graduate of Freeport Area High School. After graduation, Chris enrolled at Grove City College. where he received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Chris was a member of the drum line at both Freeport High and Grove City. He was also a catcher on both Freeport's and Grove City's baseball teams. He was employed as an applications engineer at SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company based in Geneva, Switzerland. Chris was a vital member of the North American engine software and development testing program. Chris enjoyed building, working on, and racing his mini stock dirt track car. He was an talented amateur photographer. He also enjoyed hiking, biking, national park camping adventures, and spending time with his friends and family. In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his siblings, brother, Peter Joseph "P.J." Shipe of Brentwood, and sister, Katherine V. Shipe of Monroeville. He is also survived by maternal grandfather, Thomas A. Kulikowski and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. Chris is preceded in death by his brother David R. Shipe who passed in 2018. Paternal grandparents, John J. & Rosemary O. Shipe. Maternal grandmother, Dorothy A. Kulikowski. Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 22nd from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. located at 524 High St. in Freeport, PA. Everyone is invited to gather and attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Saturday, December 23rd at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, with Msgr. Gilbert Gente officiating. A private family burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport.
