Daniel Wylie Shoemaker, 62, of Freeport, passed away on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, at Embassy of Saxonburg, with loving family by his side. He was born February 18, 1962, in Brookville, to Donald R. Shoemaker and the late Amber Blair Shoemaker. He was a lifelong member of Buffalo United Presbyterian Church, in Sarver. He was a 1980 graduate of Freeport High School and a 1982 graduate of Ohio Diesel Technical Institute in Cleveland, OH. He worked as a diesel mechanic at Dowell Division in Woodward, OK for 12 years before returning to PA to start his own window washing business. Dan was a NASCAR fan & an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed trapping, turkey and deer hunting, and spending time at the river for boating and fishing. His proficiency and love of catching huge catfish earned him many awards. Most of all Dan will be remembered, by friends and family, for his fun-loving personality and willingness to help out anyone in need. Daniel is survived by his father Donald R. Shoemaker of Sarver, brother Donald A. (Michele) Shoemaker of Fenelton, sister Valerie (Louis) Shaw of Saxonburg, nephew Wesley (Erin) Shaw of Troy, MI, niece Kylie Shaw (Joshua) Haupt of Allison Park, nephew Garrett Shaw of Troy, MI, nephew Carl Shaw of Youngstown, OH, a great niece and a great nephew. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother in 2021. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 9th, from 12-2 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor Doug Dorsey of Saxonburg United Presbyterian Church officiating. A private family burial will follow on Monday at Herman Cemetery in Clarion County. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to fishing4acause.org.
