Dusty Heilman

Dusty  (Dorothy Kynett) Heilman of Freeport, PA passed away peacefully on May 30,2024.  She was 94 years old.  Her husband of 54 years, Bill, predeceased her in 2005.  Dusty was a beloved mother of five: Lynne Smetanick (Don), Willie, Glenn (Miriam Messerly), Kris Pitcairn (Kean), and David.  Fifteen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren complete the family.

Originally from Philadelphia, Dusty graduated from Overbrook High School in 1947 and Temple Nursing School in 1950.  She married Bill in October of 1950, directly before Bill joined the US Army and was sent to Officer Candidate School and then onto Korea.  They made their home in South Buffalo Township for over 50 years, with a short time in Phoenix, Arizona.  

Dusty was a loving, supportive and hard working wife to Bill as together they built the business known as Heilman Pavement Specialities, also Hei-Way, LLC, located in Sarver.  She was a baptized and active member of the General Church of the New Jerusalem, with locations in Pittsburgh and Sarver.  

A people person, with a spirited and engaging personality, Dusty uplifted others wherever she was.  She will be remembered lovingly by legions of community members, family and personal friends, and dearly missed for generations. 

Friends will be received on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 3-7 pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High Street, Freeport.

Private interment will be held at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights.
