Edith Atkinson passed away peacefully July 3 at Allegheny General Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born to George and Anna Frola in 1946 and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She continued her education at Clarion State College where she was a cheerleader. She had an award winning career as an English teacher in the Pine-Richland school district and Knoch High School. Edie was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Dennis and her children Jennifer (Jeff) of Ohio, Adrian (Katya) of North Carolina, and her 3 grandchildren Cooper, Max and Aspen. She is also survived by three brothers John (Sharon), George (Lisa), Dave (Kathy), and sisters Christina (Denny), and Michele (Bob), and 10 well-loved nieces and nephews. She had a happy life of travel, reading, and especially time with family.
All are welcome to attend Edie’s Celebration of Life service which will be held on Monday July 14th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport. The service will begin at 11 am with Rev. James V. Arter, III officiating.
