Edward L. McClain, 82, of Freeport, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. Edward was born in Natrona Heights, on May 29, 1944, a son of the late Mona S. (Schweitzer) and Robert Neale McClain. He was the widower of Katherine R. (Stivers) McClain, who passed away in 2016. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Edward was a welder at Pullman Standard in Butler for 15 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport. Edward enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the Freeport Eagles and VFW.
Edward is survived by his four daughters, Missy (James) Libengood, Suzette McClain, Dawn (Mike) Eli, and Brandy (Brent) Smith. He is also survived by grandchildren, Levi (Katryna) McClain, James Libengood, Garrett Smith, Edward Libengood and Anthony Roffol; 2 great grandchildren, Malakai & Luna McClain; and his sisters Helen Pieffer, Jane (Butch) Carney, Lou Ann (Joe) Hudson, and Monie (Don) Diller.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 23rd, from 1-4 p.m. in the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc.. 524 High St. Freeport. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 4 p.m. with Pastor Eric Damon officiating. Burial will be private. There will be a celebration of life dinner at the Freeport Eagles following the service.
