Elizabeth “Betty” Labiaux, 96, of Cabot, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, peacefully, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot. Betty was a longtime resident of Freeport. Betty was born in Freeport on January 28, 1926, a daughter of the late Theresa (Fanto) and Nicola DeBlasio. She was the widow of Frank Labiaux, who passed in 1982. Betty was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Natrona. She received her nursing degree in 1947 from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. She was employed as a nurse for 43+ years retiring in 1990. Betty worked for many years as an operating nurse at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. She also worked at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Lakey Clinic in Boston and Florida United Presbyterian Homes in Lakeland, Florida, in positions including Staff, Head Nurse, Supervisor, and Director. Betty was a longtime member of St. Mary Mother of God Church in Freeport. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and enjoyed traveling, golfing, walking and exercising. Betty is survived by many nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her six brothers, Lawrence, Rev. Dominick DeBlasio, James, Joseph, John, Louis and her sister, Mary Walters. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday December 12th at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport with Father Edward Volz, OSPPE officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Freeport. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary, Mother of God Church 608 High St, Freeport, PA 16229.
