Evelyn Louise (Markitell) Giunta passed away peacefully on August 19, 2021, at Discovery Village in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She was born on March 12, 1927 at her family home on Spruce Street in Vandergrift, PA, She was the youngest of seven children born to John and Lucia (Casulli) Markitell. She was the widow of Rocco Paul Giunta who passed in 1994. Evelyn and Rocco were married on April 30, 1947, and the couple made their home in the Vandergrift-Leechburg area for 47 years. Rocco and Evelyn operated Giunta’s Fruit Market in Freeport for years. She had also worked at the Hallmark Store in the Allegheny Twp. Evelyn moved to Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 1999 to be near family. She joined St. Patricks Parish in Palm Beach Gardens and worked at the Papyrus gift store for many years. Evelyn enjoyed reading, baking and being very active in her church Evelyn is survived by her 3 children: Pamela [David] of Wilmington, DE; Rocco [Marie] of Jacksonville, FL; and Mark [Carla] of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild. In addition to her parents and her husband, Evelyn is preceded by her siblings, Joseph, Catherine, Mary, Tony, Josephine, and Erman. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday August 25, 2021, from 6-8 pm in the Redmond Funeral Home Inc. at 524 High St. in Freeport, PA 16229. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of God Church, 608 High St. in Freeport. on Thursday August 26th at 10:30 am. Father James H. Loew, O.S.B. of St. Gertrude Parish, Vandergrift will officiate. Burial will be held in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
