In Fond Remembrance of Glenn Todd White
Glenn Todd White, 58, of Rochester, PA, departed from this world on Friday, May 24, 2024, in a valiant effort to rescue his cherished pet parrot, Miko. Born in Punxsutawney, PA on July 20th, 1965, Glenn was the beloved son of Sondra (Brundage) White and Ray White of Freeport. In July of 2009, he united his life with his devoted wife, Jeannette Penley White.
Glenn was a proud graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, Class of 1983, and continued his educational journey at Jeff Tech (1984), culminating in his distinguished graduation with honors from ITT in 2011, specializing in computer/electrical engineering. For the past 11 years, Glenn found fulfillment as an appliance repairman for Sears, while also sharing his expertise in smoking and roasting delectable meats as a partner in his wife's restaurant -Jeannette’s Kitchen. His true joy, however, was found at his Donegal ‘Dutch & Dolly Lake’ retreat, built by the grandfather for whom he was named. It is there that he enjoyed building and enhancing his camp, hunting, fishing, fresh air and sunshine. Renowned for his unmatched gift for mechanical diagnosis and his knack for disassembling and repairing anything under the sun, Glenn was a beacon of reliability among his circle, renowned for his talent in fixing the seemingly unfixable. With a green thumb and a gentle way with animals, Glenn adored his two parrots, Sammy and Miko, epitomizing his passion for life and all of nature.
A conversationalist, Glenn possessed a rare gift for engaging in lively discourse with anyone willing to lend an ear, often extending these interactions far beyond the customary bounds. Food was a passion, from nurturing it in the soil to crafting it into delightful dishes and savoring every bite and overflowing every plate. There was many a buffet that he made the most of—always leaving any gathering with a trove of leftovers.
Glenn's memory will endure as that of a good man, a gentle spirit, a cherished son, brother, and an extraordinary husband to Jeannette.
In addition to his adoring parents and devoted wife, Glenn is survived by his brother, Chad (Lesli), brother, Rod White, sister, Heidi (Jay) Powell, and five beloved nieces and nephews: Mitchell White, Landon White, Lainy Powell, Autumn Powell, and Ben White. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Arianna White.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed immediately by a memorial service, officiated by Reverend Adam Clever, at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High Street, Freeport.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made to Srader Grove Presbyterian Church (108 Srader Grove Road, Freeport, PA 16229-1917) OR the Chestnut Ridge Historical Society (1698 State Route 711, P.O. Box 242, Stahlstown, PA 15687).
