Harry S. "Sam" Abbott, Jr., 83, of Sarver, PA passed away Monday, November 4th, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Sam was born in New Kensington, PA on February 9, 1941, a son of the late Harry S. Abbott, Sr. and Wanda D. (Daughenbaugh) Abbott. He was a 1959 graduate of Har Brack High School and worked as a printer for the Pittsburgh Press. Sam was a proud owner/operator of Abbott's Dog Grooming for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport. He was also a member of the Butler Dog Training Association for over 30 years. He and his wife bred, showed and trained many dogs throughout the years. He enjoyed bowling, camping in Erie, hunting and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sam is survived by his wife, Bernadette (Scott) Abbott, who he married May 20, 1989, his children, Daniel (Kathy) Abbott of Leechburg, Patrick Abbott of Lower Burrell, Verity (Philip) Pebler of Ford City, and Kasey (Sara) Abbott of Brackenridge, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Harry S. Abbott, III and a sister, Dona. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at the Redmond Funeral Home Inc, 524 High Street, Freeport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 8th at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport, PA with Reverend Richard J. Kosisko, JCL officiating. Memorial donations may be made to any local animal shelter.
