Imogene "Jean" (Bednar) Cooper, 98, of Freeport, passed away Saturday, July 20th, at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.
Jean was born in Natrona, PA on February 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Freida (Engleman) and Joseph Bednar, Sr.
Jean was a registered nurse at Allegheny Valley Hospital and Saxony Health Center, retiring in 1997 after 22 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport and volunteered for the Freeport Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. Jean was active in church activities and enjoyed sewing and playing cards.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Cooper, of Freeport, two sons Gary K. Cooper, of Freeport and Gordon B. Cooper, of Freeport, 6 grandchildren; Daniel, Carrie, Kimberly, Steven, Jack and Melissa, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry K. Cooper, Jr., who passed away in 1979, 1 son, William A. Cooper who passed away in 2000, siblings, Joseph Bednar, Jr. and Marilyn Lane and 1 granddaughter, Airica Cooper, who passed away in 2020.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High Street, Freeport.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Truscott officiating.
Interment will follow at Freeport Cemetery.
