James A. Michael, Jr.

James A. "Jim" Michael Jr., 71, of Sarver, passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. Jim was born in Natrona Heights Feb. 18, 1952, a son of the late Mary Lou (Fitzgerald) and James A. Michael Sr. He was a 1970 graduate of Freeport Area High School and had worked at Du-Co Ceramics in Saxonburg, retiring in 2008. Jim was a life member of the Freeport Sportsman's Club and ABCI Bee Club. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, boating, working on his antique Farmall Model H and model trains. Jim is survived by his wife, Dianne M. (James) Michael; brother-in-law, Richard J. Wheeler, of Freeport; and his niece and nephew, Jennifer and Paul Wheeler-Jewell of the North Side. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Sharon A. Wheeler; and his black labs, Shadow and Rocky. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St. in Freeport. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the funeral home with Dr. Jeffery Truscott officiating. The burial will be held in Mt. Airy Cemetery Natrona Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orphans of the Storm, 11878 Pennsylvania 85, Kittanning, PA 16201.
