James David Pesci

James (Jim) David Pesci ,77, of Brackenridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29th, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, with his children at bedside. Jim was born in Harrison Township on June 19, 1946, the youngest son of the late Joseph G. Pesci and Catherine L. (Schad) Pesci. He graduated from Freeport High School (C’ 64) and the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in business. Jim was a lifelong fan of sports, including playing high school baseball for which he received recognition as the Most Valuable Player for his exceptional pitching. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. Jim was a manufacturing engineer at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for more than 30 years, retiring early to take full enjoyment of his life. Among his many favorite luxuries were a stiff Manhattan and a juicy steak. Those close to him know he had a ripe sense of humor; he brought laughter with him into any room he entered. In his later years, he enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with his family and others who had limited means. Jim was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Parish Church in Freeport, PA. Jim is survived by his two loving daughters, Beth Edson (Craig Jones) of Brackenridge, and Kristen Pesci of Tarentum; Beth and Kristen’s mother, Marilyn Pesci (Charles Dizard) of Harrison; sisters, Carole Ann Hess of Lower Burrell and Mary Donnelly of Newtown Square, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his three brothers, Joseph, William, and Timothy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 16th, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary, Mother of God Church, Freeport with Msgr. Gilbert Gente officiating. Burial will be held in St, Mary's Cemetery, Freeport.
