James D. "Jim" Strausser, 87, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born in Natrona Heights on November 25, 1937, Jim was the son of the late Martha M. (Betush) and Albert W. Strausser. He was a proud 1957 graduate of Freeport High School. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country, spending nine years in the United States Army with dedication and pride.
Throughout his life, Jim held a variety of jobs in the local area, always known for his hard work and reliability. He found joy in the simple things—fishing, hunting, and reading—and was a devoted NASCAR fan. More than anything, Jim will be remembered for his outgoing nature, his generous spirit, and his readiness to help anyone in need.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Donna Jean (Young) Strausser; his five children: Michael (Beth) Strausser, Catherine (Jeff) Rowley, Tammy J. (Scott) Strausser, Barbara Nolker, and Thomas Albert Strausser, all of the Sarver and Freeport area. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Curtis, Jamie, Jeremy, Charlie, Alan, and Angel; one adored great-granddaughter, Poppy Lee; his siblings: Carole Bastin of Sarver, David (Diane) Strausser of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Diane (Ron) Parachino of Sarver; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. at Redmond Funeral Home, Inc., 524 High Street, Freeport.
A private interment with military honors will take place at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
